I grew up on the edge of the Peak District and it's there that I realised I had a passion for the mountains and climbing on the Gritstone edges. But it is off-piste skiing and ski touring that are the mainstay of my work now, and I look forward to sharing ski tours with guests in Scotland, Chamonix and Norway.
I first stepped into skis in East Greenland. Nordic skis and sledges (pulks) being the obvious choice to achieve first ascents in the Lemon and Lindberg Ranges. With the desire to become a Mountain Guide, it was inevitable that I would spend an increasing time on skis.
I qualified as an IFMGA Mountain Guide in 2012 and based myself in Chamonix full time, climbing and skiing in the Mont Blanc Massif. I still look forward to skiing in Chamonix in the winter on our popular All About the Down week combined with private guiding on the classic backcountry runs.
Alongside Chamonix, we have been ski touring in Norway for over ten years, with visits to Tromsø being a regular feature of our programme. The wild and remote feel of skiing from the summit to sea is a very different experience to Chamonix and one that we continue to share with our guests.
In addition, I am a Trustee of the Chris Walker Memorial Trust and a Forecaster with Scottish Avalanche Information Service (SAIS).
